XLIFF file format is the standard format for the localization industry, it is also an XML file and can contain many information.

OKAPI framework created by Yves Savourel has been designed to manage this file format and it is based on JAVA.

In this tutorial, i will show you how to use iL10Nz to localize this file type using OKAPI.

1. Log in iL10Nz

If you dont have your own username in iL10Nz, you can create one in the New user panel

Or log in the existing user panel. Alternatively, you can use the demo account.

iL10Nz supports the OpenID protocol so you can create/login using your Google or Yahoo account.

You will need to create your iL10Nz username and the password will be your OpenID data.

2. Create your project

Right after you have logged in, a welcome popup appears and you can click on the Create button to create your project.

Follow the dialog box data to fill in order to create your project.

You will be able to update the other optional information clicking on the Update Project Menu item.

3. Upload your file

When you are uploading the source file, you dont’ need to take into account the language selection since

the source language will be the one selected in your project.

The language is only used when uploading the target language file.

Click on the White background box Upload, click here.

The release name is the time stamp by default by you can add the name of your release or the version ( ie 1.001)

4. Load your resources

After uploading the file, the load resource dialog will appear so you can load the resource.

Loading the resource is really the parsing steps where iL10Nz will define the parse to use and read the file and add the localizable strings into the database.

By default, iL10Nz ask to load the last release name uploaded but you can define another release name.

You need also to add the filename you want to load.

5. Translate your project

In the left pânel, you can view the content of your project and the files that are uploaded and loaded.

When you double click on the item until the language item, you can open the translation panel and start translating the strings in the bottom panel.

6. Rebuild your file

The step of rebuilding your file is an important step because it finalizes your project and allows you to bring your application another locale.

iL10Nz use the parser definiton to read the file with the translation databas ein memory and rewrite the file with the localized strings.

7. Download your your file

After the file is rebuilt, you can then use the menu itel Download file to get the localized file.

I hope you will understand better the localization process in iL10Nz and you can see that it is very simple and that the process can customized

using the customized parsers and customized plugins to fit your requirements.
